Monchhichi is a Japanese stuffed monkey doll created by Sekiguchi in 1974. Popular in Japan and Europe, it was licensed by Mattel in the U.S. in the 1980s, with a cartoon series to promote it. After declining sales, it was reintroduced in 2004. Five TV series were made across Japan, the U.S., and France. Since 2013, the brand has been unified globally under the name Monchhichi and is still sold worldwide as of 2025.
